At this age (2-6 years), children are just learning many of the fundamental athletic skills, such as throwing, catching, running, jumping, skipping, and hopping. It’s important for kids to take time and learn these and other basic skills correctly, since they contribute to the proper development of the muscular and nervous systems.
A regular exercise “program” is generally not recommended for this age; rather, stick with activities and games that emphasize the basic motor skills. Games should focus on participation and not competition. Let kids be kids.
Some suggested activities for children ages 2-6:- Playing catch
- Tumbling
- Jumping rope
- Swimming
- Tag
- Hopscotch
- Frisbee
- Walking
- Kickball
- Riding a bike
