Parks Employee Awards Program

The Employee Awards Program is a culmination of the highly successful Employee of the Month program, initiated in 1987. The Employee Awards Program is the Department's way of expressing its appreciation for the excellent performance of outstanding employees. "Much of our time at Parks is spent dealing with troubling situations like fixing playground equipment or removing graffiti," commented Commissioner Stern who declared February 22nd Annual Employee Awards Day. "However, management should also be involved in recognizing employees who do exceptionally good work."

Employees are nominated by their peers for outstanding performance on a regular basis. One Employee of the Month is selected by a committee in each borough or agency division. In addition, employees who have demonstrated devotion to a particular playground, park or program, or who have shown an exemplary performance on a specific occasion are eligible for Employee of the Month honors. Any employee may nominate another by completing nomination forms available from the borough award coordinator.
