  • Bronx Technical Services continues to maintain storehouse efficiency by focusing on inventory and cleaning and organizing the lumber area. The Bronx storehouse is located at Ranaqua, the Bronx borough headquarters in the southeast end of Bronx Park. Bronx Park is bounded by Southern Boulevard, Bronx Park East, 180th Street, and Webster and Burke Avenues.
  • Queens made preparations this weekend for the first major snowstorm of the new year. Queens is also preparing the brand new Four Winds Playground in Kissena Park for a possible dedication on January 11th. Four Winds Playground is located at Booth Memorial Avenue and 160th Street in Flushing, Queens.
  • The Parks Academy has scheduled a Conflict of Interest training session for tomorrow, January 8th at 10:00 a.m. The session is part of a series of classes requested by the Conflict of Interest Board to help familiarize employees with Conflict of Interest law, so they will be equipped to make proper judgments should situations arise. The Parks Academy is found at the Olmsted Center, located inside Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Flushing, Queens.
  • Currently showing in the Arsenal Gallery: Mapmaker, Make Me A Map. This exhibit, which runs through January 28, 2002, features both historical and modern digital maps used by the City of New York/Parks & Recreation. Highlights include aerial photography of the World Trade Center disaster site. The Arsenal Gallery is on the third floor of the Arsenal, located at 64th Street and 5th Avenue inside Manhattan's Central Park. The gallery is free and open to the public from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. More info>>
  • Want to be a Parks lifeguard this summer? Parks continues to offer conditioning classes and qualifying tests at the West 59th Street Pool in Manhattan and Metropolitan Pool in Brooklyn. West 59th Street Pool is located at 533 W. 59th Street and 10th Avenue, and Metropolitan Pool is located at 261 Bedford Avenue at Metropolitan Avenue.
