  • Commissioner Stern will start the 20th annual Frostbite 10M race at 9:30 AM on January 12th. The 10-mile race, which is sponsored by the New York Road Runners Club, starts and ends at 99th Street and the East Drive in Central Park, Manhattan.
  • The Assistant Commissioner for Revenue and the Director of e-Government meet with representatives of the Mongolian Parliament Business Exchange today at 10:30 AM at the Loeb Boathouse. Loeb Boathouse is located on The Lake and off the East Drive at 74th Street inside Manhattan's Central Park.
  • Bid documents are available as of today for contractor pick-up for the reconstruction of Bailey Fountain in Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn. Bids are due from contractors on February 6, 2002. Grand Army Plaza is bordered by Flatbush Avenue, Eastern Parkway and Prospect Park. The bid documents can be picked up from the Olmsted Center, located inside Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Flushing, Queens.
  • Bids were received from contractors on January 7th for the construction of the northeast portion of Rock Garden Community Park in the Bronx. The park is located at East 73rd and 74th Streets and Longfellow Avenue. The bids were received at the Olmsted Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens.
  • The Crotona Park Nature Center conducts two ecology programs today for sixth graders at C.S. 134. The ecology programs are part of The Natural Classroom, an Urban Park Rangers program that help students meet Board of Education performance standards. The Crotona Park Nature Center, located near the Crotona Park East and Claremont Parkway entrance to Crotona Park in the Bronx, has been working closely with C.S. 134 to provide their students with hands-on science programs.
  • The Communications division was notified on January 10th that several swastikas had been painted on benches in Owl's Head Park. Brooklyn Maintenance & Operations responded and corrected the condition. Owl's Head Park is bounded by Shore Road, Shore Parkway, Colonial Road, and 68th Street in Brooklyn.
  • Due to warm weather, Winter Festival 2002: Ski Vermont in Central Park has been postponed. Originally scheduled to take place on January 12th, the rescheduled Winter Festival 2002 will be held on February 9, 2002 from 10 AM to 4 PM in the East Meadow of Central Park.
