  • Operations and Management Planning (OMP) will hold a ParkStat Plus+ session for Brooklyn Districts 2 and 6 on Friday, February 1 at 8 AM. The meeting will take place in the third floor conference room of the Arsenal, located at 64th Street and 5th Avenue inside Manhattan's Central Park. • Queens has begun a program to revive Linden Park (located at 41st to 42nd Avenues and 103rd to 104th Streets) as part of an ongoing mission to improve its parks. This will be a multi-agency effort to curb improper use of the park at night, as well as to reduce the homeless and litter problem. Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP) officers will start early patrols of the park. The NYPD will patrol the area on the 4 PM to 12 AM shift. PEP and NYPD are planning joint nighttime efforts in the future. Local Parks crews, with assistance from the Alternative Sentencing Program, will focus on removing litter. Potential partners for this program also include the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Mayor's Community Assistance Unit (CAU), and Volunteers for America.
  • A Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP) officer in Queens reports that a 10-foot section of grass caught fire on Wednesday, January 30 in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The fire, caused by a company contracted by Parks, was contained and extinguished by the FDNY. The grass sustained minor damage. A summons was issued to the contractor for an open fire.
  • Registration for Parks' Learn to Swim and After-School programs will be held on Saturday, February 2 and 9 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 noon. Registration for these free programs is on a first-come/first serve basis. Parks' citywide Swim Teams will also hold registration those days.
