- Several members of the Parklands staff meet
to review mapping application drawings for
proposed parks at Manor Road, Staten Island
and Villa Playground in the Bronx, in addition
to an application drawing to show the expanded
footprint of Straus park in Manhattan. This
meeting is one in a series on these projects
with the City Planning staff relative to Parks
submitting ULURP mapping applications.
- Operations Management & Planning (OMP)
submits the second draft of Mayor's Management
Report to Mayor's Office of Operations.
- OMP releases the Fall 6 Parks Inspection
Program (PIP) ratings. These are the final
rounds of the fall inspection season. More

- Streettrees inspects sites for potential
street trees in front of the Boys and Girls
club on 21st Street and 30th Road in Astoria.

- Greenstreets tags trees and shrubs at American
nursery in Dix Hills, Long Island. Tagging
means choosing the exact specimens that are
to be planted in Greenstreet sites. More

- Greenstreets meets the Jackson Heights Beautification
Group at 81st Street and 34th Avenue to talk
about some issues on the their newly planted
malls. Deputy Borough President Peter Magnani
and the Borough Commissioner of Queens are
also attending.
- Bronx Parks with the Kingsbridge Neighborhood
Association hosts their annual tree lighting
at Van Cortlandt's Tail, located at Broadway
and Van Cortlandt Park South. In 2000, the
Greenstreets office planted this Douglass
Fir, which the community strings with lights
to celebrate the holiday season.
- A supervisor of maintenance and operations
in Clove
Lakes Park on Staten Island reported
a fire in a wooded area of the park. The fire
burned approximately 600 square feet of brush
and several trees sustained minor damage.
NYPD and FDNY were on scene and the fire was
extinguished.
