  • Commissioner Stern celebrates the reopening of the Upper Promenade at Battery Park after two years of reconstruction. The program includes a procession of Stuyvesant High School students on hand to help dedicate the Gardens of Remembrance, where daffodil and tulip bulbs were planted as part of The Daffodil Project, a living memorial to the victims of the September 11 tragedy. The ribbon cutting begins at 11 AM today.

  • At 12:45 PM today, ABC interviews Commissioner Stern on the Challenge America project in East River Park

  • Bids are due from contractors at 10:30am for two projects which will reconstruct selected electrical systems in pools throughout the city. Bids will be opened and reviewed.

  • On December 10, The Brooklyn Borough Commissioner met with the Chief of Design to review the schematic design for Phase II of People's Park, the final designs for both Soundview Point and Baretto Point, the revised layout for Watson-Gleason Playground, and discuss the scope of the West Bronx Recreation Center.

  • Greenstreets holds a meeting at the citywide nursery in Van Cortlandt discuss the propagation of replacement trees for Greenstreets.

  • The Tree Trust attends a meeting with the Rheedland Center for Community Development to help create a Greenstreet stewardship program for middle Harlem. The meeting is being held at 157 West 122nd Street.

  • On December 10, Commissioner Stern attended the Queens Managers Meeting at the Oak Ridge Building. Management issues were discussed and the Borough Commissioner presented the 10 best projects of the year.

  • In Staten Island, contractors re-finish gym floor at the newly renovated Cromwell Recreation Center. This project will run the entire week. Cromwell RC is located at Pier 6 and Victory Boulevard in Staten Island.

  • At 7: 30 p.m., the Montefiore Park Neighborhood Association holds its annual tree lighting ceremony at Montefiore Park, bounded by Broadway, Hamilton Place, and West 138th Street.
