  • The Commissioner's Schedule:
    10 AM: The New York Times photographs Commissioner Stern for a story on Parks Names. More info on Park Names >>
    10:20 AM: WNYC interviews the Commissioner on the Challenge America Project.
    12:45 PM: Attend Mayor Giuliani's Farewell Address.
    6 PM: Speak at the Arsenal Gallery Wreath Interpretation Exhibit.

    8 PM: Participate in the final Town Hall Meeting with Mayor Giuliani in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

  • Operations receives four (4) new pickup trucks from Franklin Square Ford. Parks has ordered a total of 20 new pickups, the remainder of which are to be delivered in December and early January. The cost of pickup trucks equipped with plows and tailgates is, on average, $30,000. This is a $600,000 purchase. Parks has 415 pickup trucks that are used for inspections and mobile crew maintenance.
  • Bids are due from contractors at 10:30 AM for the project to reconstruct Knickerbocker Park in Brooklyn. Bids will be opened and reviewed.
  • Operations & Management Planning (OMP) releases Winter Round 1 Parks Inspection Program (PIP) ratings. More info >>
  • Staten Island Operations performs hillside erosion restoration at PS 55.

  • The Bronx celebrates the holiday season:
    At 12pm the Ranaqua staff celebrates with a potluck lunch. At 2pm Borough Commissioner invites all Bronx Park employees to Ranaqua for food and holiday cheer. At 3pm is the Ranaqua Tree Lighting. The Ranaqua compound is located in the southeast part of Bronx Park.
  • At 3 PM today, the Commitment Meeting is held at the Olmsted Center. The Chiefs of Design and Management Services meet with the Directors of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Consultant Project Management, and Requirements Contracts to review the status of all projects in design. The group will focus on the progress of each project since the last Commitment Meeting on December 4 and upcoming completion dates.
  • Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island hosts a Tree Lighting ceremony at 4 PM. Clove Lakes Park is located on Clove Road and Victory Boulevard.
