- Commissioner Stern speaks at a breakfast
to commemorate the renovation of the Tweed
Courthouse, to announce the creation of the
City Hall Park conservancy,and the Theodore
Roosevelt Statue Installation at 9 a.m. today.
The event takes place at 52 Chambers Street.
- Commissioner Stern speaks at the John V.
Lindsay Park re-naming ceremony in East River
Park at 11:30 a.m. East River Park, which
will now be known as John V. Lindsay/East
River Park, is located at Montgomery Street
and the FDR Drive.
- Today at 2:15 p.m., Commissioner Stern joins
Bronx Borough Commissioner Castro, Community
Board 6 Chair Wendy Rodriguez, and Phipps
Board Chair Ronay Menschell to cut the ribbon
at Vidalia Park. The Bronx's newest green
space, Vidalia Park is located at East 180th
Street between Vyse and Daly Avenues. More

- The Big Six Meeting takes place today at
the Olmsted Center. The First Deputy Commissioner
met with the Chiefs of Design, Construction,
Management Services, Forestry, Requirements
Contracts, and Five Boro to discuss Capital
topics. They will discuss the Challenge for
America Project, management and time keeping
training, the City-wide bidders list, and
Buildings and Roofing Requirements Contracts.
- Bid documents are available for contractor
pick-up for the reconstruction of selected
play equipment, safety surfaces, and handball
courts in Staten Island Parks. Bids are due
from contractors on January 9, 2002.
- The Job Assistance Center (JAC) will be
hosting a Direct Care recruitment for JAC
participants at the Alfred E. Smith Recreation
Center in Manhattan. Al Smith Recreation Center
is located at 80 Catherine Street off of Cherry

- Queens Parks held a ceremony yesterday for
a retiring employee at the Allied Building
in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Betty Spriggs,
an Associate Parks Service Worker (APSW),
was honored for over 20 years of dedicated
service and hard work in Flushing
Meadows Corona Park.
- Five Boro celebrates the holidays with its
Holiday Party today at 12 p.m.
