  • Commissioner Stern joins city officials and community members to cut the ribbon at the city's 2,001st Greenstreet at 11:00 a.m. today. The site is located at the intersection of Christopher Street, Grove Street, West 4th Street, and 7th Avenue South in Manhattan. More info>>
  • On Saturday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m., Commissioner Stern joins elected officials and children at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand re-opening of Cromwell Recreation Center in Staten Island after its $5 million reconstruction. Massive preparations have been made throughout the week, including cleaning, painting, and carpentry. The Cromwell Recreation Center is located at Pier 6 and Murray Hulbert Avenue. More info>>
  • Cromwell Recreation Center hosts the Evergreen Cup Basketball Finals on Saturday, December 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The three-day basketball tournament, which began on Thursday, December 27, enables kids ages 8-17 to compete in a fun citywide tournament on their vacation between Christmas and New Year's Day. Commissioner Stern is scheduled to speak at the event at 12:30 p.m. More info>>
  • The design has been completed for the project to construct the park and comfort station in Barretto Point Park in the Bronx. A bid date is pending legal review of the contract.
  • At 1:00 p.m. today, December 29, and December 30, Lefferts Homestead in Brooklyn opens the door to 19th century Dutch farming life in Old Flatbush with its interactive tools, toys and games. Fun family activities will include Scharen-Knippen cutouts and sewing. Lefferts Homestead is located on Flatbush Avenue at Empire Boulevard in Prospect Park.
  • Bronx Operations recovers 70 belgian blocks (cobblestones) from the 47th Precinct. The blocks had been stolen from Parks property on Bronx Boulevard and East Gun Hill Road. More info>>
  • Seven wild dogs attacked two people on the Rockaway Beach boardwalk on the morning of December 27. Parks Enforcement Patrol officers, Urban Park Rangers, the Parks district manager, and NYPD Emergency Services scoured Rockaway Beach, Queens and the surrounding area for the dogs involved in the attack. NYPD has now darted and captured all seven dogs, who were transported to the Center for Animal Care & Control.
