- Bids were received from contractors on Wednesday (11/21) for the project to Remove and Dispose of Asbestos at Parks and Recreation Facilities Citywide.
- District 8 in the Bronx inspects the 6-mile cross-country course in Van Cortlandt Park in preparation for a race on Saturday. District crews perform routine maintenance on this nationally renowned course that begins on the Parade Ground, winds through Vault Hill, and forms a 1.3-mile loop through the Northwest Forest. - Queens Operations performs
a 5 x 5 cleanup in Kissena Park near the Velodrome.
"5 x 5" is an initiative which combines multiple
operations groups into one team for one day to perform
maintenance operations on a specific park or park
property. Kissena Park is on Oak Avenue and borders
the Hempstead Turnpike.

- The Parks Academy is developing
a Mailroom Safety Procedures course. Two classes
are scheduled for November 27 and November 28. The
guidelines for precautions and safety in mail handling
that will be used in this course will be based on
recommendations from the Center for Disease Control,
the NYC Department of Health and the U.S. Postal
Service.
- Six Brooklyn recreation
centers take part
in the citywide Coats for Kids initiative to provide
coats for children needing them. The centers have
already distributed over 1000 coats. More

Recreation Center
hosts the "School's Out/Fun's In" Skating Party
in Prospect Park from 11AM to 3PM today.
- Manhattan hosts the Holiday
Market at Union Square Park. The market opens for
business today and runs through December. Union
Square Park is between Park Avenue and Broadway
and 14th and 17th Streets.
- Operations Management and Planning (OMP) meets with the Deputy Commissioners to review the first draft of the Preliminary 2001 Mayor's Management Report.
