- Commissioner Stern joins the National/NYC
Audubon Societies in a press announcement
for International Bird Preservation at 11:30
AM today. The announcement takes place in
Central Park's Belvedere
Castle, located at West 81st
Street and the West Drive.
- Bids were received from contractors on Wednesday
(11/28) for the Reconstruction of the Frederick
Johnson Park Tennis Courts in Manhattan. Frederick

Avenue between West 150th and West

- Today at 10 am in the Olmsted Construction
Conference Room, the First Deputy Commissioner's
Office meets with the Deputy Director of Construction
and the Brooklyn Directors of Capital Projects,
Planning and Construction to review all in-house
projects and Consultant Project Management
(CPM) construction in Brooklyn. The group
will focus on the latest site activities across
the borough, progress of construction schedules,
upcoming final inspections, and punchlist
completions.

- Today at 12:30 p.m., First Deputy Commissioner
Moss, Deputy Commissioner Garafola, and Staten
Island Borough Commissioner Paulo will meet
with Parks personnel from Architecture, Construction,
Design and Planning at the Cromwell Recreation
Center on Staten Island to review the progress
of interior improvements and expedite the
reopening of the facility. The Cromwell Recreation
Center, located on Pier 6 and Murray Hulbert
Avenue, is currently under capital renovation.

- The First Deputy Commissioner's Office has
begun evaluating Parks Opportunity Program
(POP)/ Supervisor deployment on a district
and borough-wide level. POP participants are
assigned to shifts of 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.,
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., or 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Parks is working to provide appropriate Crew
Chief and Supervisor of Parks Maintenance
Operations (SPMO) supervision and distribution
of POPs across districts.
- Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island celebrates
its 80th anniversary on December
2nd. The park is located between
Slosson Avenue, Victory Boulevard, and Clove
Road. More

- The Parks' Intranet Unit has updated and
expanded its master internal database of all
properties in the Emerald Empire. This improved
database will serve the agency, from Borough
Operations to Government Relations, by facilitating
the exchange of information about the agency's
most basic resource: parklands. More

- Operations Management and Planning (OMP)
meets with the Deputy Commissioners to review
a draft of the Preliminary 2001 Mayor's Management
Report (MMR).
